Formally Open Floor-Plan

One of the most unique and wonderful features of the house is the combination of a formal living room, and an open floor-plan for the kitchen and dining area.

Hosting guests in the living room gives the chef privacy in the kitchen, but it's also great to have family sitting at the table or lounging, while keeping out from underfoot while cooking.

The curtains on the left conceal the patio doors to the deck.

There is also a wonderful built-in with five large shelves, and a large cabinet below.

Perpendicular is the closet with access to the attic.

Family Quarters

The main floor private area is where the three bedrooms and full bath are located, all off the hallway adjacent the public area of the house.  These are red oak hardwood floors, like the rest of the main floor.

The bedroom in the northeast is green, with dark green roman shade.
The large window overlooks the front yard.
There is a switched ceiling fan with light, and two electrical outlets.
There is a phone jack on the west wall.
The internet LAN cable comes up through the northeast corner.
The double-sliding door closet has two shelves.

The southeast bedroom is blue, with beige and-cream Jacquard roman shades.
The east window overlooks the front yard, the south window overlooks the side yard.
There is a switched ceiling fan with light, and three electrical outlets.
There is a phone jack on the west wall.
The double-sliding door closet has two shelves.

The southwest bedroom is beige, with burgundy satin blackout tie drapes.
The south window overlooks the side yard, and the west window overlooks the deck and back yard.
There is a switched overhead light, and two electrical outlets.
The hinged door closet has one shelf.

The upstairs bathroom is currently in renovations.
We've started removing the tile from the wall, and have primed the walls.
We're replacing the wall tile with white rectangular tiles, edged with black bullnose.
The counter top and sink will be a one-piece cultured marble vanity top.
The shower doors are also being replaced.
The floor, bathtub, and tile shower surround will remain intact.

Updated Basement

Since we acknowledge not everyone is as interested in a Spartan Green (Pantone 567) basement, we've spent some time updating the basement to be more university-neutral.

What's that lovely built-in DVD/bookcase, you ask? Why, a secret door, of course!  Pull the correct movie forward, and the door opens!

We use the room inside as an office.  It has a large cedar closet, and another secret bookcase door to the storage area under the stairs.

Looking toward the other end of the basement, we have the other closet on the finished side, and the three-quarter bath.

On the utility (unfinished) side of the basement are such interesting things as the laundry machines (2009), and the furnace.

Furnace (and central air) installed by previous owners (2006).

Also, is our wonderful tankless water heater (installed 2010).  This little guy supplies (nearly) unlimited hot water to showers (yes, both of them), dishwasher, and washing machine... simultaneously.  No kidding, there is no such thing as a cold shower in this house, unless you want one.
